Car competitions are popular around the world, and have been for a long time. Whether it’s a high speed race or judging classic cars, there are a wide variety of competitions. This is a more unusual one though. In Minnesota, USA at the Minnesota State Fairgrounds the Midwest SPL (Sound Pressure Level) contest challenges participants to create the loudest noise possible with their car’s sound system.

The cars themselves can be of any type, and several of them are older cars. It’s more about finding a vehicle that is a good shape which resonates the sound well, and of course the expensive stereo systems that get put into these cars.
