The future of car audio

No one knows for sure what will be the next big thing in car audio, but there are a lot of predictions out there. Some of these things are currently being tested, or only available in high end models, but it is hard to tell which ones will become the norm in commercial vehicles. Here are some of the things that could be in store for the future.

Most car stereos have stereo sound (two channels, left and right) which could in the future be replaced with genuine surround sound, for a more immersive and high quality experience.

DVD-Audio and Super Audio Compact Disc (SACD) are two new types of audio disc. The idea is to fit more data in the same space to allow for better quality music, as music on CDs currently is ‘compressed’ to make it all fit on, resulting a lower sound quality.

Other things that have been proposed are noise cancelling systems and systems with zones of sound, so you can listen to your own audio in isolation to others in the car, using multiple speakers.

Whatever the future has in store, if your car radio, old or new, is ever locked and you need a security code for it, please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
